Maker Series: Molly Fitzpatrick of Dittohouse
Meet Molly Fitzpatrick. She's the head honcho over at Dittohouse, where she designs modern, bold textiles for the happy, modern house. Molly's adventure really took off when she and her husband welcomed their first son into their house and realized how important tasteful textiles were to family life. You play on them. They warm you. They also make awesome picnicking accessories. It's hard to ignore how much happier a good blanket or a comfy pillow can make us feel... and when it comes in a great pattern, well, that's perfection! Learn about how Molly incorporates comfort into her curated, cool collection in our maker series below.
Cleveland Flea: What was your path to beginning your business?
Molly Fitzpatrick: When my son was born in 2014 I quickly learned that comfy cozy blankets to play on and wrap up in are an essential part of every happy house. I wanted to surround my baby with designs that are engaging, bold and sophisticated. I am a textile designer with experience in manufacturing, so I decided to partnered with a second generation American textile mill to make my blankets with beautiful recycled cotton yarns.
CF: Why do you love what you do?
MF: Designing textiles is my passion, I love that textiles are an artform that are accessible and functional. I love that my textiles bring warmth, color and energy to peoples homes.
CF: Why does Cleveland need a business like this?
MF: Everyone in Cleveland needs blankets! It is so cold here for so much of the year that it is important to have modern, bold, colorful designs that can be on display and used all the time.
