Who are we here to support- your present self or your future self?

We’re here in this space as coaches (for small business owners + small business supporters) and fans (of small business owner + Cleveland).

But we’re also future-thinkers. We do things today that we know will benefit our city, our community, our team tomorrow (or after some significant time). Growing things takes time. It takes planting seeds that we don’t get to harvest for a while. And during that time, we tend to these seeds of hope. Maintaining our conviction that with our help, these seeds will flourish and add to the vibrancy, nourishment and creativity of our city.

But that doesn’t mean you’re on board with that.

As business owners, do you have a concept of what Future You will be?

Does that mean you’ll be more successful? With more money and more customers and better production methods and a storefront and a team? Or are you ok continuing to be exactly who you are today?

It does matter. Because we need to know, who are we in a relationship with? Are we providing resources for Present You or Future You? The resources (and thinking) you’ll need to become your future self will be different than if you’re just planning to stay the same.

The thing is, they’re not the same people. With the same thoughts and needs and priorities. Future You, with a bigger paycheck does things differently. Thinks about the same situations in new ways. Sees opportunities that Present You misses.

That’s how growth happens. It’s your focus on the future that helps you grow toward it. It’s not in accepting your current situations and current thinking that moves you forward. That keeps you in place.

But it’s ok if you’re not up for growth. It just changes how we approach all the things we do.

And one of those resources we’ve built for Future You is called Creative Conversations. It’s a collection of lots of the thinking and encouragement you’ll need to grow. To take on bigger challenges. To become Future You. We’re really excited about it and we know it’ll help you- if you’re looking to level up to your next best self.

Every business owner is different. Everyone starts at a different point and grows at a different rate (if at all). But what’s important for us to know is where do you want to go?

If you’re staying the same, that’s cool. If you’re hoping to grow, to make more money or to level up then it’s good for us to know that, too.
