That’s Filicia. She came on board via an internship with Tri-C and we got to know her and work with her over the course of a few months.

We’re really grateful for her dedication, talent and desire to get as much out of this experience as possible. We’ll miss her energy, smiling face and infectious attitude.

In honor of her last day, we’re re-capping her experience and sharing steps if you’re interested in your own internship with us!

Q. What did you do as part of your internship at the Flea?

A. Helped create an inclusive family friendly space at the Summer Flea

Q. What did you find most interesting working at the Flea?

A. The way everything comes together as the dates of the flea near. The behind the scenes.

Q. What did you learn most from your assigned project?

A.Be ready for anything. It's good to think big but don't compromise the integrity or execution of the task at hand. Flexibility.

Q. How can Cleveland be more engaging for families?

A.Continue to offer spaces that don't ask a lot of the patrons, physically or financially. A place for families to enjoy each other.

Q. What are you inspired by the most at the Flea?

A.The teamwork. The desire to bring people together, and show people the other great neighborhoods that surround Cleveland. Also giving businesses the opportunity to be seen.

Q. Do you have a pet? What is their name?

A.I Do!! His name is Pasta and I think he's the greatest thing since chocolate chip. He is a Dachshund/Lab mix.

Q. What inspires you most in your professional life?

A.The opportunity to meet and work with people from all walks of life. It has taught me patience and understanding that everyone has different needs when it comes to interaction.

Q. What is your biggest professional goal?

A.At the moment, make myself proud in my new position at work. Long term, put myself in a position to be able to help my company have a bigger presence in the Cleveland area. Bring new experiences.

Q. What is your biggest personal goal?

A.Short term, get through this eight page paper due next week. Long term, have a career that allows for travel and the ability to work from the road. I would love to build out a Sprinter Van and travel with Pasta. Start in the U.S. then eventually hit other countries.

Q. First item purchased at the Flea?

A.First ever? Probably food, but outside of that I believe it was jewelry. A bracelet from a vendor that has moved out of state. My favorite though, is a little sign I have hanging in my kitchen that reminds me of spending time with my Granny in her kitchen.

We’re always looking for good people to join #TeamFlea as interns, paid interns, super-part time team members, collaborators and more.
