Find, not fix: Brand & Life Coaching

It's early January. The gyms are packed. My refrigerator is finally clean and filled with some pretty healthy stuff. I'm reading at night and managing my money like a BOSS. Hey friends, Stephanie here to chat about FINDING yourself versus FIXING yourself.

Choosing the words we use can be a profound act. One of the books that initially changed much of my outlook on my own speech and thoughts was The Four Agreements. I read it years ago, carried it with me and found myself coaching others on my newfound enlightenment. The first of the 4 agreements presents:

  1. "Be Impeccable with your word. Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love...."

I've been a slightly chaotic, emotionally-driven person my entire life. I used to think that this meant I had to "fix" myself. Train myself to be more like the orderly, steady people I often found myself drawn to. But then this rigid rule-heavy life would slowly suffocate me. I was left fighting tooth and nail for my own beliefs, my own way of believing, thinking and acting. But still, I had a feeling that "if only I could be more like [         ]," then I'd finally be where I wanted to be. I wanted to fix myself. All the time. In the gym. At work. In my relationships.

Very recently, I began the process of knowing myself more. Not judging. Not fixing. Just knowing. This was a pretty radical shift for me. I've been in constant personal growth / self-help mode for as long as I can remember. Instead, I began to want to explore myself more. I learned that I'm an ENFP personality type. I dug deep into my astrology, learning my Sun Sign and my Moon Sign, even looking at my Life Path Number. It's 11.

I know. This can all sound a little too woo. But for me, this was transformative. And that's the proof I need that it's found practicality in my life. Learning to trust my own intuitive, dreamy side rather than try to fix it was a profound shift in how I relate to myself, the decisions I made and even how much I love myself.

When I work with our clients, the main part of what I do is helping them FIND who they are, embrace that and shape that into a life and brand that they feel purposeful around. For me, and for many creatives, it's become a mix of practical skills (saying no to clients who couldn't pay me) combined with following my heart (suggesting a client rename their business because that was what felt right).

Next week, I'm heading to California for a full 6 days of intensive Life Coach Training, and I couldn't be more excited. I'm not going to fix myself, I'm going to continue my exploration into the world that lives within me that can be focused into making more of the world beautiful.
