May Color Story: Coming alive with greens
Spring hasn’t exactly turned Cleveland green, yet. But you can feel it coming.
Green is the color of things coming alive. It’s the color of a city shaking off the rust of winter. Last month’s Color Story washed over us with shades of azure, blue as our April showers. This month we share with you the green of leaves, trees and May flowers.
And those flowers pop up just in time each spring, don't they? Mother's Day is Sunday. We can't think of anyone else who sings more to ushering-in-life than our mothers, grandmothers and all the women (past and present) whose love, sweat, tears and inspiration keep us kicking.
The May Flea features handfuls of gifts — from handmade jewelry to crafted flowers, vintage items and modern fashion, art prints to locally made furniture — you can pick up for mom or, if you're lucky enough, shop with her (arm-in-arm).
Mother's Day isn't about the material things. But it doesn't hurt to give that lady a token to recognize her awesomeness.
Let's not forget tokens for your awesomeness, too. Use this Flea to bring a little freshness into your life. It's easy to get stuck in a palette (sometimes for decades). Spring is time for breaths of fresh air and things that inspire us.
So, our May Flea Challenge for you: Find an item — for your home, office or wardrobe — that adds color to your day-to-day. Pick up something that can become a reminder or mantra for taking this spring to new heights.

Granted, it's not always things you'll keep forever that will spice up your life. Don't be afraid to dive into new flavors — whether it's a spicy new sauce, lunch who've never eaten or drink you've never mixed.
Let spring take over for the day and walk away from Saturday with your winter self in the rearview (even if it rains). Believe us, the world will be green, with envy.
Our monthly Color Story is a curated collaboration between the Cleveland Flea, Suzuran Photography and our vendors. It’s a sneak peek at what’s in store for the next market and some inspiration for adding a little more color in your life.
